All,
I will not be available to start the September Sail Fleet race. There are
two skippers in favor of a 6 September start. If I don't hear from a
majority of the usual racers objecting to a 6 September start the September
race will occur next Saturday, 6 September. Please respond to this e-mail
not later than 1800 Tuesday evening, 2 September of your preference. Do you
prefer to race Saturday, 6 September, or Saturday 13 September?
The September course is attached and may be reviewed below. John Isaksen
has volunteered to start the race if held on 6 September. You'll be on your
own to start on 13 September.
Alternatively, you may sail the course on either, (or both), day(s) and send
me your (best) start and finish times. I will score your time as usual and
report the race results per your e-mail or phone call.
Please respond with your preference ASAP!
Your comments, after the race, are welcome. Any course you can make up or
would like to see is also welcome. Please monitor VHF channel 68 for any
last minute changes! Again, the starting line will be between the range
mark piling (the one beside the pole with the 5 MPH sign) and G17. No more
looking for the SDSPS buoy. The starting line will be a little longer and
not adjusted for wind. So pay attention to which way the race instructions
say to leave G17 at the start and finish.
If you have a boat and would like to race or if you would like to crew on
someone else's boat, please call co-chair Mike Sampsel at 619 421-3345 and
notify him of your intent to race so he can coordinate extra crew and boats.
We would also like to provide an opportunity for the Sea Scouts to sail with
us. If you have room for one or more Sea Scouts please contact Mike
Philbrook via e-mail. His address is philbroo at cox.net.
Please call my home phone, 858-487-8491 ASAP with your finish time. You may
also e-mail me with your race results and any comments, suggestions or
anecdotes about the race. I appreciate any input to add to the race results
report.
Don Litzenberg,
