Location: San Diego-Coast Guard Base
The Boating Clean & Green Campaign will train volunteers Saturday, May 10 to
become "Dockwalkers," individuals who promote environmentally-sound boating
throughout California's marina communities. The training will take place
from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sector San Diego-Coast Guard Base.
Reservations are mandatory due to security measures at the base.
Please review the email sent to us by our District Commander Katie Law
regarding the Dockwalkers' program.
Let me know if you are planning on attending this program. You will need to
notify the below named individual (see email address) prior to the program
to get your name on the list.
I hope to see a lot of SDSPS in attendance.

We have been asked to participate in the "Boating Clean and Green"
Dockwalkers' Training program, offered by the California Coastal Commission
and the CA Department of Boating and Waterways. The next local training
session will occur at the US Coast Guard Station, San Diego (North Harbor
Drive at the foot of Laurel Street), on Saturday, 10 May 2008. This
training opportunity comes only a few days before National Safe Boating Week
and will give us an additional chance to expand civic service in Southern
California. Further information about the program may be found at the
following website:
<http://www.coastal.ca.gov/ccbn/dockwalkers.html>
http://www.coastal.ca.gov/ccbn/dockwalkers.html
Since the Coast Guard station is a closed facility, it will be necessary for
you (and other who want to participate) to contact Vivian Matuk (see below)
to ensure your name is on the list of attendees, and a state (or federal)
identification must be presented at the gate.
Vivian Matuk, California Coastal Commission, 45 Fremont Street, Suite 2000,
San Francisco, CA 94105-2219, (415) 904-6905, vmatuk at coastal.ca.gov.
May I suggest that Squadron Commanders consider appointing a member to
spearhead this effort and to plan to include and expand this program in
future years?
Yours for safe Boating,
Katharine S. Law
